2010 Carbon Partner Program

To meet the goal of offsetting 190,000 tonnes of indirect emissions, Offsetters and VANOC have created the 2010 Carbon Partner Program to engage 2010 Winter Games partners, sponsors, and participants to get involved.

We have invited VANOC Partners, Sponsors, and Participants to offset:

OPTIONS EMISSIONS SOURCES DESCRIPTION
Option 1
  • Games-time air travel
  • Games-time accommodations
 By taking responsibility for these easy-to-calculate emissions, your organization will capture a significant amount of its emissions and thus support VANOC’s goal of offsetting the indirect emissions from the Games.

Option 2
  • Option 1 (as above); plus
  • Games-time operations, Hospitality & Activation
 During Games-time your organization will create carbon emissions from not only air travel and accommodations, but also from the vehicles driven, the buildings used and the equipment run. This option provides you with the opportunity to capture all emissions during Games-time
Option 3
  • Option 2 (as above); plus
  • Pre-Games planning
  • Post-Games wrap-up
 This level of engagement requires some work to define and capture your broader carbon footprint before, during, and after the Games. However, it will allow your organization to step forward and create a carbon neutral 2010 Winter Games involvement.
