    We worked closely with many of the Official Sponsors and Suppliers of the 2010 Winter Games to understand, reduce and offset their Games-related emissions—often beyond just flights and accommodations. These partners played an important role in making the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games the most sustainable in history and the first ever Carbon Neutral Games.

    The involvement of our Carbon Partners has helped create a legacy of best practices for future Games sponsors to follow.

    Our 2010 Carbon Partners

    Acer

    Since it was founded in 1976, Acer has pursued the goal of breaking the barriers between people and technology. A profitable and sustainable Channel Business Model is instrumental to Acer’s continued growth, while the successful mergers of Gateway and Packard Bell complete the company’s global footprint by strengthening its presence in the US, and enhancing its strong position in Europe.

    Acklands Grainger

    Acklands-Grainger is Canada's largest supplier of Industrial, Safety and Fastener products and has been in business for over 100 years! They have 155 branches coast-to-coast, five distribution centers and the largest inventory in Canada. They were also the official supplier of Industrial Safety and Material Handling Equipment for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games.

    Aggreko

    Aggreko was the Official Supplier of Temporary Energy Generation, Delivery Systems and Temperature Control Systems for the 2010 Winter Games. Aggreko has a rich history with the Olympic Games, including supporting the Atlanta 1996, Salt Lake City 2002 and the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

    Atos Origin

    As Worldwide Information Technology (IT) Partner for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, Atos Origin integrated, managed and secured the vast IT system that relayed results, events and athlete information to spectators and media around the world.

    Australian Broadcasting Corporation

    We would like to thank the Australian Broadcasting Corporation for being a part of the 2010 Carbon Partner Program.

    Province Of British Columbia

    Working within the Ministry of Healthy Living and Sport, the British Columbia 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Secretariat (BC Secretariat) was the provincial agency responsible for overseeing British Columbia’s Winter Games financial commitments and ensured the Olympic vision was achieved.

    BC Hydro

    In its role as an Official Supporter of the 2010 Winter Games, BC Hydro provided the resources to supply clean power for the 2010 Winter Games. In addition, through its Power Smart programs, BC Hydro worked with VANOC to ensure the Games were energy-efficient and promoted energy conservation across BC.

    BCLC

    BCLC was the Official Lottery and Gaming provider to the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games.

    Bell

    Bell was the exclusive Telecommunications Partner to the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games. Bell is Canada's largest communications company, providing consumers with solutions to all their communications needs, including: telephone services, wireless communications, high-speed Internet, digital television and voice-over IP.

    Birks

    Birks was the Official Supplier of Jewellery Products to the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games.

    Bombardier

    Bombardier joined the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) as an Official Supporter of the 2010 Winter Games and a Signature Supporter of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Torch Relays. As part of their sponsorship, Bombardier manufactured the torches for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Torch Relays and two ceremony cauldrons– one at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver and the other at the Whistler Medals Plaza.

    Canada Post

    Canada Post was the Official Supplier of postage stamps for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

    CP Railway

    Canadian Pacific was the Official Supporter in the Rail Freight Services Provider category.

    Canwest

    Canwest Publishing Inc. was the Official Regional Newspaper Publisher for the 2010 Winter Games. This sponsorship provided VANOC with greater avenues in print and online advertising in Canwest's ten regional daily publications: The Gazette, Ottawa Citizen, Windsor Star, Regina Leader-Post, Saskatoon StarPhoenix, Calgary Herald, Edmonton Journal, Vancouver Sun, The Province, and the Victoria Times Colonist.

    City Of Vancouver

    As Host City, Vancouver welcomed the world and shared all that Vancouver has to offer. Vancouver is a world leader in environmental sustainability with the lowest per capita greenhouse gas emissions of any major city in North America. The City's new Olympic Village in Southeast False Creek is one of the most sustainable communities in the world. The City has a goal of becoming the greenest city in the world, and a green capital, by 2020.

    Coca Cola

    As the Olympic Movement's longest continuous corporate supporter, The Coca-Cola Company was a Worldwide Olympic Partner and was proud to be the Official Non-alcoholic Beverage Sponsor of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

    Cold FX

    COLD-FX was the official cold and flu remedy supplier to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. CV Technologies, founded in 1992, strives to transform people's lives to be healthier and happier by focusing on prevention and recovery through the use of evidence-based, naturally-derived health products.

    CTV

    Canada's Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium was the official Canadian broadcaster of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

    The Globe And Mail

    The Globe and Mail was the official National Print Sponsor of the 2010 Winter Games with exclusive rights in Canada in the national newspaper publisher category.

    Hain Celestial Canada, known for popular healthy foods such as Yves Veggie Cuisine, Terra Chips, Earth’s Best baby food and Imagine organic soups was the Official Supplier of natural and organic packaged grocery products for the 2010 Winter Games.

    The Hudson's Bay Company is Canada's oldest company and largest department store retailer. In addition to offering the hottest 2010 fashions, the Hudson's Bay Company was also the coolest in joining the Carbon Partner Program and voluntarily offsetting the carbon emissions of their Granville Street Olympic Superstore operations from October 1, 2009 to March 30, 2010.

    Hudson's Bay Company is a Premier National Partner and the General Retail Merchant of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games and Official Outfitter of the Canadian Olympic Team. In partnership with VANOC, Hudson's Bay Company designed and manufactured 12,000 Olympic torchbearer and 30,000 Games-time workforce uniforms; and also outfitted both the Vancouver and Whistler athletes' villages. The company also retailed a collection of 2010 Canadian Olympic Team apparel to the public and sold the largest assortment of Vancouver 2010 licensed merchandise through its 600+ stores.

    As a proud 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games sponsor, the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) did more than just sell Winter Games licence plates in support of the Canadian Olympic athletes and the 2010 Winter Games. ICBC also provided the motor vehicle insurance to VANOC's fleet of vehicles, and through our 2010 Road Safety Plan, ICBC promoted safe and responsible driving habits to all Games-time guests.

    ICBC is also working to become carbon neutral. To accomplish this goal, ICBC is undertaking a range of initiatives, including energy retrofits, switching to recycled paper, and building a LEED Gold Driver Licensing Centre.

    McDonald's became an official sponsor of the Olympic Games in 1976 and has a longstanding commitment to the Olympic Movement. In 2004, McDonald's announced the continuation of its TOP sponsorship for the next eight consecutive years through the 2012 Games.

    Omega was the Official Timekeeper of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Since 1932, Omega has delivered the official results at 22 Olympic Games. It ensures the accuracy of scoring and competition results, and that results are delivered promptly to the public at the venues and through broadcast, print and online media to audiences around the world.

    Panasonic provided the Olympic Games with state-of-the-art digital audio/video equipment, such as flat screen televisions, digital still cameras, digital video cameras, DVD recorders and professional audio/video equipment. 

    Port Metro Vancouver was an Official Supplier of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, the Canadian Olympic Committee and the Canadian Olympic Team. Port Metro Vancouver partnered with the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) and Offsetters to voluntarily offset carbon emissions created by Games-time activities. They are committed to sustainability to benefit and strengthen business and community interests, while supporting their national mandate to benefit all Canadians. We partnered with VANOC because we have shared values around sustainability.

    Port Metro Vancouver was awarded a Sustainability Star by VANOC for contributing to the BC Hydrogen Highway initiative. By showcasing the development of hydrogen and fuel cell technology, they joined other collaborators, including the Government of Canada, Province of BC, City of West Vancouver, and BC Hydro, in realizing a clean energy future for transportation and logistics.

    As Canada's longest-standing supporter of the Canadian Olympic Team since 1947, RBC was a Premier National Partner of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and proud to bring the Olympic Spirit to communities across Canada as Presenting Partner of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay.

    RBC's participation in the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay, Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games was carbon neutral.

    Ricoh Canada was the Official Document Solutions provider to the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games. As a leader in integrating state-of-the-art hardware, software, consulting and support services, Ricoh worked with VANOC to maximize document workflow efficiencies. Ricoh is also a global leader in environmental sustainability practices and has a "zero-waste-to-landfill" corporate policy.

    RONA was the Official Home Improvement Partner of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games. It is the largest Canadian distributor and retailer of hardware, home renovation and gardening products. It operates a network of 670 corporate, franchise and affiliate stores of various sizes and formats.

    Samsung's involvement with the Olympic Games began in 1988, when it became a local sponsor for the Seoul 1988 Olympic Summer Games. Through its advanced wireless telecommunication technology and products, Samsung is recognized for providing the Games with crucial, real-time information service in support of the world's largest sporting event. Samsung is proud to carry on its Olympic partnership through the 2016 Olympic Games.

    We would like to thank Sky Italia for taking part in the 2010 Carbon Partner Program.

    SNC-Lavalin was the Vancouver 2010 Official Supplier of engineering services and construction services.

    Surrey was a 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Venue City and hosted a Celebration Site in the city's Holland Park.

    Teck Resources was the Official Mining and Metals provider for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games. It was the exclusive supplier of the metal that was used in the production of every competition medal for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

    Visa is a Worldwide Olympic Sponsor, and was the exclusive card and the official payment system of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games. Visa's Olympic sponsorship began in 1986; since then it has sponsored six Olympic Summer Games and six Olympic Winter Games.

    Weston Bakeries was the Official Supplier of Bread and Baked Goods for the 2010 Winter Games. Its sponsorship included support for the Canadian Olympic teams for the 2008, 2010 and 2012 Games.

    The Resort Municipality of Whistler was the Host Mountain Resort and a member partner of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and hosted the Nordic, alpine and sliding events of the Olympic Games from February 12 to 28, 2010 and most of the Paralympic Games, from March 12 to 21, 2010.
