What Spectators Did

Every one had a role to play; and here are some of the ways spectators helped achieve the goal of a carbon neutral 2010 Winter Games:
Understanding their carbon footprint
Spectators planning their Olympic trip used our 2010 Travel and Accommodations Calculator to determine their individual impact from supporting the Games.Offsetting their emissions
Once aware of their impact, Games’ spectators were encouraged to do what they could to reduce their emissions, and offset what they couldn’t avoid. With a 1 tonne carbon offset from the 2010 Legacy Portfolio (a blend of BC-based clean technology and International Gold Standard projects), they received a special Offsetters 2010 pin. They could also give the gift of 1 tonne of carbon offsets to friends or family as an Olympic souvenir.Passing it on
To reduce their environmental impact, the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games embraced changes big and small. Increasing awareness of and adopting the small changes everyone can make leaves a lasting and meaningful legacy. Throughout the Games, many people shared their support on social networks like Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, and posted their own version of the 2010 Travel and Accommodation Calculator.
