Kari Grist, Senior Vice President Marketing & Client Engagement
Kari is a senior marketing executive with over 20 years strategic marketing and brand management experience. Kari joined Offsetters in late 2008 after 6 years with Vancity, Canada’s largest credit union, one of Canada’s top 100 employers and the first financial institution in North America to be carbon neutral.
During her tenure with Vancity, she provided leadership and direction to 40 marketing professionals in the field of Brand and Marketing Communications, Relationship Marketing, Market Research and Database Marketing & Analytics.
Among her accomplishments is the revitalization of the Vancity identity and Vancity story and corresponding membership growth, the launch of the first online social network in the FI space in Canada with changeeverything.ca, and the innovative Bike Share program. Under Kari’s leadership Vancity earned numerous national and international marketing awards; including being named Marketer of the Year in 2005, receiving a Silver Cassie in 2006, and receiving Best of Show at the 2007 Lotus awards. Vancity’s brand work was most recently highlighted in Ikonica, a field guide to Canada’s brandscape, a book that looks at the top 25 brands in Canada.
Prior to joining Vancity, Kari brought with her over 18 years of marketing experience in the airline industry with both Wardair and Canadian Airlines. Over her career in the airline business, she was responsible for Marketing Communications, Research, Product Development, Special Projects, Marketing Planning & Development and the Canadian Plus loyalty program. She also was one of the founding team members that developed the oneworld brand, a global airline alliance.
In 2007, Kari was appointed Board of Director for Hope Air, a national registered charity that supports Canadians travelling for medical treatment.
Kari graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Commerce and Business Administration. She lives with Mark, Madison, Jesse and Murphy in Crescent Beach. Back to Staff
