Gujarat Wind farm, India

Carbon offset funds enabled the installation of eight wind turbines in India’s Gujarat province with a total capacity of 13.25 MW.
HOW IT WORKS
The electricity produced from the wind turbines is exported to the Western Region state grid. The installation of wind turbines reduces greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in power generation for the grid, which predominantly has fossil fuel based power stations, and grid emissions of 0.898 tCO2e/ MWh1.CARBON OFFSETS MADE IT HAPPEN
Without offset funds the financial payback for this installation would not have been viable. The installation yields savings in GHG emissions compared to the traditional approach of burning fuel for electricity generation.OTHER BENEFITS OF THE INSTALLATION
Beyond the direct climate benefits, the project promotes sustainable development of the region, generates employment opportunities for the people (both during construction and operation phases), and improves economic activities by increasing electricity generation and availability of power.
