Lignol Innovations Ltd.

Lignol is a Canadian company based in Burnaby, BC which has developed a biorefining technology for the production of fuel-grade ethanol and biochemicals from feedstocks composed primarily of waste wood sources.
HOW IT WORKS
Lignol’s biorefinery technology is regarded as one of the most promising “Cellulose to Ethanol” platforms for the conversion of waste wood materials, such as hardwoods, softwoods and agricultural residues, into biofuels and biochemicals. The technology has significant potential for the reduction of Greenhouse Gases because it displaces fuels and chemicals currently derived from oil. Additionally, Lignol’s technology has significant potential to displace the conventional method for producing ethanol from the fermentation of valuable food crops such as corn.CARBON OFFSETS MADE IT HAPPEN
As Lignol works towards demonstrating its biorefining technology on a commercial scale, Offsetters is working with Lignol to quantify and validate the associated Greenhouse Gas emission reductions and other environmental benefits. The successful demonstration of Lignol’s biorefining technology on a commercial scale will pave the way for future projects at much larger capacities.Funds from carbon offsets will help support these demonstration projects while creating significant savings in GHG emissions when compared to conventional ethanol and petro-chemical manufacturing processes.
