A unique portfolio of offset projects will be created through local expertise in new, clean energy technologies. These projects will prevent a minimum of 118,000 tonnes of carbon emissions from entering the atmosphere, offsetting the direct emissions from the 2010 Winter Games. VANOC and Offsetters are also working with partners, sponsors and participants to offset the estimated 150,000 tonnes of indirect emissions from the 2010 Winter Games.

All projects in our 2010 Legacy Portfolio will be high-quality offsets consistent with the standards applied by new BC provincial greenhouse gas regulations, and have been designed to meet or exceed the highest international standard for carbon accounting and offsetting.
