Your offsets provide funding for new projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions. These are projects that, because of financial or technical barriers, would not and could not go forward without offset funding. Which means your offsets are making a real and measurable difference every time.
You can even choose what kind of project portfolio your offsets will support. You may want to invest in a portfolio that contains offset projects that support a specific project type; or a portfolio that includes offset projects certified to a particular standard; or a portfolio with offset projects in a specific country or region.
We’ve pooled a number of our projects into portfolios to manage risks and offer a standard, averaged price per tonne of carbon offsets. Offsetter’s three portfolios consist of projects from BC, Canada and around the globe.
- Our General Portfolio is a mix of our own Canadian projects and international Voluntary Carbon Standard (VCS) credits.
- Our Gold Standard Portfolio is sourced from Gold Standard credits from around the world. The Gold Standard is an internationally recognized standard for offsets. Canadian projects are not eligible for this designation because Canada’s was a Kyoto signatory (and a country that had already committed to decreasing emissions).
- Our Pacific Carbon Trust Portfolio is entirely composed of BC projects dedicated to the Crown Corporation.
Note: In addition to the projects available through our three portfolios, we have credits from a number of projects that are not yet shown online. Please contact us to learn more.
